Meet Vanessa Torre, the midlife coach who’s building a Facebook community called Maximizing Midlife

Hi, I’m Vanessa Torre, I’m 49 and currently living in Arizona but heading to the Bay Area in few months. I’m a writer and midlife coach for women looking to make remarkable changes so they can live creative, fulfilling, and meaningful lives.

By day, I juggle being an entrepreneur and a writer. By night, I devour books like they are my last meal. My tiny apartment has over 400 books! By weekend, I blare music in my house non-stop. Currently obsessed with Shane Smith and the Saints.

I’m in the midst of:

  • launching a few coaching programs for midlife women and I have new ideas faster than I can create programs for them. When I hit midlife, I struggled to figure out what the next phase of my life would look like. It took me way longer than I wanted to find my feet and so I now put my work into creating coaching programs and resources to make it easier for others. This time it too precious to spend it spinning our wheels.
  • planning my big move the the Bay Area and I’m so excited I can hardly stand myself. I went on vacation last year to Napa and unexpectedly met the man of my dreams. After lots of time apart and traveling, it’s time to close the gap!
  • coming out of a period of dealing with some serious body issues. I have been doing major work on this and putting practices in place to change my mindset. It’s been a remarkable journey and I really hate how so many of us struggle with this in midlife.

For me, the best thing about being 49 is that I have finally found this freakish ability to sift through life and let what doesn’t serve me anymore fall through holes like a sieve. I only keep the good stuff. The worst thing is finding out that Nora Ephron was right. We all look good for our age. Except our neck.

“The worst thing is finding out that Nora Ephron was right. We all look good for our age. Except our neck.”

My Grown-Ass Lady heroes are hands down:

Jen Hatmaker, Tina Fey, and Iris Apfel is an icon.

What’s next:

Will you help me spread the word about the amazing online community of women on Facebook that I am growing called Maximizing Midlife? What I’ve heard so many times is that women not only need resources, but they need to feel seen and heard. They also need community and support. This little haven offers all of that for free. These women are incredible.
