Reiki Master Daydree Horner (aka Good Love Coach) helps women find their pleasure
Can Reiki lead to orgasm? The answer is yes, and Reiki Master Daydree Horner provides a how-to called “A Solo Reiki Practice for Orgasm” here in Goop. You’re welcome.
She also talks about what she learned when she started offering couples’ Reiki at her Santa Monica practice. She noticed a pattern: “The first thing they’ll say in a session is, ‘We don’t seem as connected as we used to,’” Horner says. And then, after they’ve opened up, what follows is often more specific: “We don’t seem to be having sex the way we used to.” Or “I’m not having orgasms with my partner the way I used to.”
In this interview, Daydree digs into how she changed her acting career to become a renowned energy healer.
The Midst: Why did you start MyOshun, your Reiki energy healing and holistic coaching business?
Daydree Horner: In college, I took an elective acting class where I did a scene from the movie, The French Lieutenant’s Woman. I played the Meryl Streep character, Sarah. In the scene, the character is processing her relationship. I was captivated by the character and role. I thought: “This is what I want to do,” so I became an actor after leaving college.
But what I didn’t realize was that I wasn’t actually fascinated with acting. It was Sarah’s exploration of human behavior, relationships, and finding inner peace that moved me. What an aha moment! However, I didn’t figure all of this out until years after professionally acting. But when I did, I found my soul’s purpose.

Around the time I met my husband on Match — I was getting off the site and he was just getting on. I became so disappointed with the Match process that I called their 1-800 number to cancel my subscription. The woman who answered was supportive of my frustrations with the site, but suggested, “maybe just wink at someone once in a while”. So, I winked and my now-husband responded. I remember telling three of my girlfriends over dinner about my new beau and how we met. They all said: “Everything you did leading up to this moment is a business model.” You’ve got to make this a program or something. So, I did.
While all of this was going on, I had experienced Reiki healing on a road trip with some girlfriends after I got car sick. My friend used Reiki to help my stomach and throbbing headache. It worked. Being a practical native Brooklynite, I didn’t believe in things like energy healing, but I knew that I needed to learn more of this Reiki. Plus, I was starting to feel energy flowing through my hands and wondered what that was all about. Later, I became a Reiki Master Teacher and Certified Success Coach focusing on relationships. I started MyOshun in 2008.

What is Reiki and how do you incorporate meditation and Reiki into your coaching practice?
Reiki is a natural Japanese holistic therapy where subtle, stationary hand positions are placed on the torso and head, or hovered above, over points of tension to restore balance and stimulate wellness within the emotional, mental, physical and spiritual bodies. Reiki means “universal life force energy” in Japanese, which is shared from practitioner to client, and vice versa, during a session.
In my coaching practice, I incorporate meditation in every session. Meditation feels intuitive for me because the purpose of coaching is to work through something that’s bothering you, so being at peace about it is helpful! But seriously, we don’t change unless our subconscious changes and the subconscious can be accessed through meditation and reiki. So there is much more ease in releasing what no longer serves the client when meditation is utilized with coaching.

Usually I interject a guided meditation intuitively during the coaching sessions. Occasionally, I’ll send reiki energy at the same time. If a client wants Reiki specifically, they sign up for one of my Reiki session packages. Reiki is a modality that works with our energy system. So it’s best to have several sessions for a true transformative experience. The sessions include the Reiki, assessments of the energy centers, plus coaching towards healing moving forward.

MyOshun is designed for transformation. You help women who are struggling with self-pleasure, relationships, and making change. How do you transform people?
Women are powerhouses. We are amazing creatures, but we need transformation sometimes. We can power through our entire lives, making all kinds of money, creating babies and businesses, but completely skip out on our own pleasure. We can make a good living but not actually enjoy what we do or have a long-term relationship, but not experience true intimacy. It’s about knowing when it’s time for a transformation.
As GynoGirl Dr. Sameena Rahman said, “As a whole, women don’t value pleasure, across the world.” That’s my thing — I help women experience pleasure in their work, relationships, and life in general.

Can you share an example of how you’ve helped someone become a love magnet for the right person?
I had a client who was frustrated with the dating scene. She wondered if she’d ever meet the right person in her mid-50s. She’d been in some long-term relationships, but something wasn’t quite clicking.
She enrolled in my Good Love Program and we started uncovering her toxic ties with past relationships. We then figured out what she really needed in order to have a healthy union. We also looked at her energy system and what was required for her to be properly aligned with a partner.
We identified her soul’s purpose and created her vision for love based upon an empowering exercise I created, designed to make attraction an easier process. And, before we even finished the program, she became a love magnet, and met her now husband. I spoke with the two of them just the other day. So nice that they’re in their joy!

What is your online program Reclaim Your Pleasure?
Reclaim Your Pleasure is a private, online program for women struggling with self-pleasure and pleasure with others, that helps them embrace their bodies, intimacy, and feeling sensual again. I developed the program because I noticed that the inability to experience pleasure is more common than we think! I kept hearing the same things from female clients over 50. They either had libido or intimacy issues, or they didn’t enjoy their body image any longer. I’d been coaching all of this for years on a subtle level, but now, it’s an in depth online program for a woman to experience in the privacy of her own home.
What’s the most surprising or exciting thing you’ve learned about yourself lately?
I’m usually stronger than I think.
What’s one of the hardest things you’ve ever done?
Taking care of my aging parents when they couldn’t take care of themselves.
If you could go back in time, what advice would you give to yourself at age 40?
Life won’t always be this easy, so buckle up. But every little thing’s gonna be all right.
How can The Midst community support you?
I’d like our collective to help share my vision that when women have more pleasure through sensuality, they’re more empowered from a mental health perspective.
